B is for...

Taking a little break from the blogging world for a week or so. Need to focus and concentrate on some other things. That aweful flu seem to be still lingering with the boys. Little sleep for them meaning little sleep for me... Zzzzz. Also I have some projects I need to finish for a few people.

On other notes, thought it was funny how Darcy, my husband, made it to the front page of the Lac La Biche Post. Also, check out my awesome friend Hannah Shears' online radio show starting again this coming February 2nd. (Her blog and center)

Printable Candy Filled Valentines

An early printable so everyone could get a head start on putting these together and actually I'm quite excited about them! It's February and it's the month of love. What's more appropriate then giving a special someone a valentine filled with sweets?


Download the printable here. There are four different designs on one sheet. Best printed on 8.5 x 11 matte photo or heavy cardstock paper. Below's a little tut just in case.

Cut the valentines out. If it's printed on matte photo or heavy cardstock paper, lightly score the lines with an exacto knife. This makes it easier to fold.

Fold the tab and the half line. Glue the tab. Press firmly and wait for it to completely dry.

Squeeze the valentine open. Fold down the flaps on one end. It should fold down easily, especially if you scored it. If you need to you can glue or tape this end so whatever you put in it doesn't fall out.

Fill the valentine with your favorite Valentine's day candy. Fold down the flaps to enclose.

Fabric flowers

Ever since I got this flower phone charm from a Japanese student, I always wanted to try to duplicate those pretty fabric flowers. I remember seeing a great Japanese hairpin tutorial from Miscellany of me where she makes similar fabric flowers. Thought I would give it a go with my own twist on it.

Here are my first few attempts. The first one was not good at all, but as you can see it does get progressively better...

...and finally I got it! Ta da!!

They are so much fun and quite addictive to make. A little project I can work on during the day where I can put it down and pick it back up while watching and playing with my boys.

A dash of cuddles and a playdough recipe

Lately it's been getting harder and harder to do much art and craft during the day. Lucius doesn't nap anymore and wants constant attention. Aymeric just wants to be held and cuddled a lot. I'm trying my best to be present for them and do what I can at night after they go to bed. I know they are only little once and before you know it, they don't want anymore snuggles from me.

Lucius has been wanting to play with playdough all the time. He loves running his cars in the playdough. I had a couple of mini tubs of Play-Doh around the house, but after a few times playing with them they dried out. As I was looking through my recipe drawer, I came across this playdough recipe in Darcy's family recipe book. The dough is so soft and it's lasting forever. Thought I needed to share!

Playdough Recipe
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tbsp cream of tartar
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup water
food coloring (add drops until desired colour)

Add ingredients together in a pot and heat on medium heat until thickened. (You might need to sprinkle a bit of extra flour to form a ball). Take the ball out of the pot and knead for 4 minutes.
Keep it in a Ziploc bag and the dough will last moist for months!

Back to normal

It's Monday and the boys are feeling a whole lot better. Phew and Thank goodness!!


Yesterday we had a massive snowfall and it's snowing again today. So beautiful! I think the boys are quite anxious to play outside.

The plastic bag project

My friend/yoga instructor is opening up her yoga studio with a store that sells and showcases local art and goods. Her and I had this idea of clients coming in and dropping off plastic bags to be turned into usuable items. So, I've been busy fusing and sewing plastic bags into pouches and handbags.

My feet says hello...

Hello beautiful, new laminate floor of chocolaty, browny goodness!


Our new floor is finally done in our dining/living room area. No more holes, scratches, and paint marks anymore. Hurray!

Finally finished all the laundry and cleaned the entire house from our, ahem, bad case of the stomach flu. Darcy and I are back to normal and the boys are still a little under the weather. Which means more cuddling, snuggling, and lots of DVDs.

Printable Chinese New Year Red Envelopes

This month's printable is a little behind. We had quite a crazy last few days. The entire family came down with this stomach flu bug. It wasn't a pretty site and I'm quarantining my house for an entire week. Haha! We are recuperating and everyone seems to be doing pretty good now. Things are slowly getting back to normal. So back to the printable.

This year's Chinese or lunar new year falls on January 26th, year of the ox. So being of Chinese ethnicity I thought I would create Red Envelopes (Lai See) for this month's printable.

It's 2009!

Happy New Year!

It has been such a busy, eventful, and fun holiday!
We went to Edmonton for the week of Christmas, came home and then went back down for new years eve and day. Yes, Crazy us! Our holiday consisted of family, friends, good food, lots of shopping, presents galore, and Rockband 2.

I think I need one of those holidays from a holiday, where we do absolutely nothing in our pajamas all day. Well, that's not going to happen anytime soon because we are putting in our new laminates in our living/dining room area, going to host a couple more dinners, and I already have a few projects lined up for a few people which I can not wait to share.

Now off to work on this months printable.
